Frequently Asked Questions

Most people who have never seen a counsellor before will have some questions and I have answered some of the most common questions below. If you have any other questions please contact me and I will happy to
answer them for you.

Q. How many sessions will I need?

A. This answer really depends on you and what you need. I provide both short and long-term therapy and we can discuss the planned duration of our work together duration our initial consultation. Some people can take three or four sessions to explore a specific issue and gain the desired outcome. For others, or where longer term change is needed, more sessions may be needed. Ultimately, you would decide how many sessions you have and when to end therapy.

Q. How long do counselling sessions last?

A. Each counselling session normally lasts for 50 minutes and the sessions are normally weekly on the same day and time.

Q. How much does counselling cost?

A. The initial 15 minute online consultation is free. After that, each 50 minute session costs £50, for both online and face-to-face sessions.

Q. What if I cancel or miss a session?

A. If you need to cancel a session, I would require a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Missed sessions or short notice cancellations (less than 24 hours) will normally be charged at the full session rate.

In the unlikely event that I needed to cancel a session at short notice; you would of course not be charged.

Q. Are the sessions confidential?

A. Yes. Everything you share in therapy is kept strictly confidential, but there are rare  exceptions to this such as where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or you disclose that an unreported crime has been committed. I can provide further information on this during our first session and is also contained in our working agreement.

Q. How do I get started?

A. Simply reach out to book a free 15 minute, online initial consultation, with no obligation. This is a chance for us to talk about what you're looking for, for you to ask any questions and for us to decide if working together feels like a good fit. If we are both happy to continue, we’ll book our first session together. If you decide you don't think we are good fit, that's absolutely fine, what matters most is that you find the support that feels right for you
