Manchester Counselling for life's toughest moments.
Support with grief, anxiety. stress or cancer diagnosis.

When Life Feels Overwhelming, you don't have to face it alone.

It's easy for life to become overwhelming. Tasks that once felt simple may now drain your energy. You might be doing your best to carry on whilst quietly carrying sadness or grief,  feeling numb, anxious or dealing with the shock of a life changing diagnosis. Even when you are holding everything together on the outside, inside you may feel exhausted, uncertain, alone and you don't know where to turn. That's where I can help.

Loss, bereavement and major life changes can make the world feel unfamiliar - as though it shifted overnight. Emotions may come in waves, sadness, anger, fear, confusion or complete numbness. Work pressures, unspoken worries or the weight of a difficult diagnosis can leave you feeling stretched thin, struggling to find space to breathe or steady yourself.

Stress, grief and anxiety affect more than your mood. They can cloud your thinking, disrupt your sleep and make everyday life feel overwhelming. When you are carrying so much its natural to feel unsteady or unsure of what you need.

People come to counselling for all kinds of reasons, and every one of them matters. I believe therapy can be helpful for anyone — there’s no checklist you need to meet. Your life doesn’t have to be falling apart, and you don’t need a mental illness to reach out.

Counselling is really about being human. It’s a space to explore whatever you’re facing — anxiety, low mood, grief, neurodiversity, addiction, trauma, challenges with relationships, stress at work, or simply feeling lost or disconnected from yourself.

Change is possible. You don't have to go through this alone.

Counselling can help you:

  • Make sense of your thoughts, enabling you to regain your sense of control.
  • Feel calmer and less overwhelmed.
  • Give you skills and techniques to help you cope better with life's challenges.
  • Help  you to feel more hopeful and motivated
  • Enjoy a deeper, more restful night's sleep

About Me

I’m Paul, a counsellor based in Manchester, where I live with my partner and our two rabbit “fur babies.”

Having reached mid‑life, I’ve experienced my share of challenges — growing up in a working‑class family, losing my dad young, navigating relationship breakdowns, facing work pressures, and surviving both cancer and a quadruple heart bypass. I know what it’s like to feel helpless, scared and alone.

These experiences, led me to train as a counsellor so I could offer others the understanding I needed during my own hardest moments. They shape the caring, compassionate way I work today.

My approach is not scary or clinical; my style is more personable and tailored to you so that you get the best results from each session. Clients often describe me as warm, down-to-earth and easy to talk to.

Ready to take the first step?

I know reaching out for help can feel like a big step and it's completely normal to have questions. If you're considering counselling and want to know more, I'm happy to talk things through and answer any questions you have.

I offer a free 15 minute online consultation so we can get a sense of whether we're the right fit. If you decide I'm not, that's absolutely fine - what matters most is that you find the support that feels right for you.
